4.Test scheme and reference standard

4.1 OTA (TRP, TIS)            

Test conditions: measured under the maximum working mode (such as the maximum rotating speed of the fan), the direction pattern data is required, and the 802.11b/g/n and channel 1 / 7 / 13 are tested respectively.            TRP (IEEE 802.11b-2.4G Data Rate 11Mbps、BW 20M, IEEE 802.11g-2.4G Data Rate 6Mbps、BW 20M

4.2 quick connect test (compatibility test)            

Test conditions: a total of 6 routers, 3 Xiaomi routers (required) and 3 routers of other brands (select 3 from the table below). The following is the router model that has a large sales volume in the market and can be purchased: brand / Xiaomi (required)

One IOS / Android system mobile phone and one machine of the product to be tested. WPA and WPA2 encryption methods, or WPA2, WPA / WPA2 hybrid encryption methods. Place the product at the place where the router signal strength is - 50dbm and - 70dBm, and repeat the test for 10 times.

 

Test steps:            

1) Select the first router and set the encryption method to wpa-psk (some routers use WPA / WPA2 mixed encryption). Through the mobile app test, it is found that the device to be tested is placed at the place where the router signal strength is - 50dbm. You can choose to stay away from the router or use other objects to block it to meet the required signal strength value.            

(IOS can use the airport utility app, and Android can use the WiFi analyzer to measure the WiFi signal strength of the router). After the equipment to be tested is placed in the required position, power on and reset, use two mobile phones for fast connection test respectively, and record the test results.            

2) Place the equipment to be tested at the place where the router signal strength is - 70dBm, and repeat step 1 for fast connection test.   

3) Switch the router encryption mode to wpa2-psk, and repeat test steps 1 and 2 for fast connection test.

4) Use the next router and repeat test steps 1, 2 and 3 for fast connection test.            

Reference standard: - 50dbm fast connect test success rate ≥ 99%, - 70dBm fast connect test success rate ≥ 90%

 

4.3 Signal strength test            

Test conditions: under the same network environment, when the measuring equipment is in different directions of the antenna, the distance between the equipment to be tested and the module shall be tested.           When the tool is 5m, compare the signal strength of the whole equipment and the single exposed module in AP mode, and record the average value of the test results. During the test, it is necessary to confirm that the antenna orientation of the module in the whole machine is the same as that of the exposed module. Test app: Airport (IOS). Test steps:            

1) Prepare single-mode group matching development board or module development board. Power on the module and reset it to the pending connection state through the "restore" serial port command (use the module default model)

2) Place the module and the whole product to be tested together, pay attention to keep the position and height of the single-mode group and the module in the product close, and the antenna orientation is the same. At the same time, in order to ensure that the performance of the bare module used for comparison is in the best state, when testing some directions, if there is shielding of the equipment main body between the module and the test equipment (mobile phone) in the whole machine, it is necessary to adjust the position of the separate bare module to ensure that there is no shielding between the separate bare module and the test equipment (mobile phone), and the position is as close as possible to and in the same direction as the module in the whole machine. Power on and reset the whole product to be tested.

3) Place the IOS mobile phone in the forward direction and 5m away from the antenna of the whole product and module. Open the airport utility app, set the scanning time to "continuous" and filter "MIAP", (using the product screening "MIBT" of dual-mode module), you can see the signal strength information of product hotspot and module hotspot at the same time. Adjust the mobile phone to the place where the signal strength changes relatively stably, keep the mobile phone stationary, record two signal strength values every five seconds, record ten times, obtain the average signal strength of the whole product and the average signal strength of the module, and calculate the signal strength difference.

4) Adjust the antenna orientation of the product and module, complete the test in four directions, and record the results.

 

matters needing attention:            

1) Please confirm the module placement and antenna orientation in the whole product. During the test, the single-mode group and the module in the whole product shall be close and the orientation shall be the same.

2) Please choose a good environment for testing (open environment, no more objects, no other shielding, good network environment). During testing, pay attention to avoid shielding or interference around the product as far as possible, avoid the placement position of individual modules directly contacting the ground, and avoid the interference of surrounding personnel during testing.

3) Please use the same test equipment (mobile phone) to measure the signal strength of the product and module at the same time to avoid other interference.

4) If some of the four required front, back, left and right directions cannot be tested due to the placement direction of the module in the equipment, the test can be carried out above and below the antenna and indicated in the test report.

5) Observe the signal strength of the whole product. Normally, it is about - 40dB to - 50dB.

 

Appendix: How to use AirPort Utility

1. In "Settings"-"AirPort Utility", open the Wi-Fi scanner

 

 

2. Open the AirPort Utility App, click "Wi-Fi Scan" in the upper right corner, set the scanning duration to "Continuous", and click Scan to start signal scanning.

 

 

 

2. Add the ssid filter "miap", which can filter the AP signal of the device using the Xiaomi smart module, which is convenient for observing the test signal strength value of the whole machine and the module.

 

3. When the change of signal strength is relatively stable, start to record data, and record two signal strength values once every five seconds, and record ten times. You can choose to take a screenshot of your phone or take a photo ten times.

 

Guideline:

 

The signal of the final product in each direction is stronger than the signal of the module, or weaker than the signal of the module but not more than 5db. That is, the signal value of the product minus the signal value of the module, the result is less than -5dBm, the test result is Failed, and the result is greater than or equal to -5dBm, the test result Pass.
